There is no shortage of gamblers around the world. Most of them are serious about their cash, but draw the line at some point. Then there are those who will do anything and everything to win a wager. The results are often undesirable, or unexpected to say the least, for the winner (or loser?), but for us, we get a good laugh. Here’s a look at our favorites.
Take My Wife
Russian Andrei Karpov was left at a game of poker against Sergey Brodov with no money and a deep desire to keep going. With his luxury car out front and Rolex on his wrist, Andrei deliberated what he could offer as a bet. After thinking everything over, he offered up his wife. Andrei indeed lost the game. Sergey then went to the loosing opponent’s house to collect his winnings. To Andrei’s surprise, his wife Tatiana, agreed with his grand idea. Rather than refusing to leave, she divorced Andrei and married Sergey. How does Tatiana feel about everything? “It was humiliating and I was utterly ashamed. But as soon as my ex-husband did that I knew I had to leave him,” she goes on, “Sergey was a very handsome, charming man and I am very happy with him, even if he did win me in a poker game.”

I’ll Get Some Moobs
In 1996, gambler Brian Zembic of Toronto, Canada entered into a wager with his friend and fellow gambler, Jobo. The bet was that Zembic would receive breast implants and if he kept them in for a year he would win US $100,000. Together, a contract was drawn up and the money was put into a third party account as a guaranteed payment if Brian followed through. For the first few months, Brian did not go along with the bet, but after losing money on the stock market, he went searching for a surgeon. Through gambling associates, he found a cosmetic surgeon who was also a gambler. After losing a few games of backgammon to Brian, the surgeon agreed to perform the surgery if Brian agreed to wipe the debt clean. Brian walked out of the hospital with 38 C implants and the yearlong wager began. Once the year was up, his winnings were transferred into a Swiss bank account. Moving forward and as of 2011 he still had his implants. We’re guessing as of 2014 he still enjoys them.
A Poor Choice for a Drunken Bet
Most of you know that alcohol and gambling is often a set up for disaster. A 22 year old from New Zealand lost a drunken bet at poker and is now known as “Full Metal Havok More Sexy N Intelligent Than Spock And All The Other Superheroes Combined With Frostnova”.
As he met the countries requirements of a name being under 100 characters, his name has been accepted on his passport, driver’s license and other legal documents. Surely, Frostnova would never want to name his children after him. At least we hope not.
All or Nothing
In 2004, Ashley Revell sold everything he owned and cashed out his savings. We’re talking $135,000. He bought a ticket to Vegas and in front of cameras from the TV show Double or Nothing, Revell placed his bet on the roulette wheel. At first he chose the color black, but at the last moment, changed his mind and chose red. With family watching, he let the croupier do his thing. We wouldn’t leave you with a sad outcome, so of course Ashley won. In fact, he doubled his money. The dealer was given a $600 tip and Ashley went back home to England where he started up an internet poker site.
There are countless other funny bets. From hilarious tattoos on all parts of the body and naked runs, people become desperate, even brave, to win some cash.
